The Virginia Deer Hunters Association (VDHA) was formed in March of 1985 as a non-profit statewide organization in order to uphold the rights
of all deer hunters throughout the Old Dominion. Our organization has worked with the state and county governments in all aspects of deer hunting issues.
We were instrumental in helping to establish the Deer Management Assistance Program (DMAP) that started in 1988 and continue to encourage Quality
Deer Management. The VDHA has actively worked to create more hunting opportunities through many special seasons. We have been a major player
in hunter education while holding hunts for our youth and handicapped hunters.
Today we are facing another challenge in an all out effort to preserve the old southern tradition of deer hunting with dogs in eastern Virginia.
Our organization will work in every capacity to make sure that hunting deer with dogs is done in a way that is just and consistent with the rights
of other hunters, landowners and citizens of our great Commonwealth.
Hunting with dogs has been a major part of Virginia’s hunting heritage and the VDHA is actively engaged in this issue and committed to
seeing that the ethical hound hunting community is treated fairly. The VDHA will do our part to see that hound hunting continues for generations to come.
The VDHA welcome all hunters who are concerned about the future of hunting in Virginia to join our ranks. We strongly believe that in
order to defend the ongoing fight for our rights we must find common ground and work together!
Respectively,
Executive Board and Officers of VDHA
