   Wildlife biologists consider free ranging
whitetails to be browsers, because they
feed on woody vegetation throughout
their home terrain. The animal is very
adaptable and will feed on numerous
different types of plant life. During the
winter months, one of their preferred
food sources is honeysuckle. The
whitetail deer requires eight pounds of
food on a daily basis for every hundred
pounds of body weight during the spring
and summer. However, during the
winter months, when food sources are
not as plentiful, Mother Nature provides
a safety valve requiring forty to fifty
percent less!
